Over the course of 2020, Huawei’s UK social channels were experiencing frequent negative sentiment. Yet, brand advocacy from proud Huawei owners remained undiminished and was as convincing as ever. Huawei ‘Superfans’ are not only obsessed by the tech and innovation, they were also champions of the brand as they inform and educate their peers.

 

We wanted to not only leverage this audience to help counteract negative brand sentiment, but celebrate and reward the Huawei Superfans who have been supporting us every step of the way. So, we transformed the signature hashtag LOVEMYHUAWEI into LOVEDBYHUAWEI. And after a nationwide search with over 50 individual entries, we found two talented superfans to star in our hero videos where we brought their passions and story to life.

 

The release of the two full length hero films across all social channels sparked a lot of conversation and engagement online, with Twitter and Facebook exceeding their usual performance. The authentic nature and strong performance of both stories shows that Huawei can tell brand-related stories and actively celebrate their fans, generating positive sentiment in a challenging climate.
